A very dear friend of mine is due to have her second baby in just a few days (days!) and I am proud to say that I accomplished my self-imposed goal of sewing a quilt for her, in the theme of her nursery,
before baby gets here. I should note here that I have never made a quilt so this was quite an intimidating undertaking. But it came out absolutely amazingly and I love it and I can't wait to see her and give it to her so I can envision that baby boy rolling around on it and sitting on the beach on it and avoiding the grass on it.

The Purl Bee and I would honestly say that it took about 6 hours total (spread over a couple of weeks) and was far less complicated than I had made it out in my head to be. And that includes my attempt at machine binding with a less-than-perfect outcome which I ripped out and redid by hand. Because really, it was necessary. (And worth it).
Not bad for a first-timer, eh?
